Contiki Community Portal
Project: Contiki is a travel organization exclusively devoted to delivering engaging holiday packages for 18-35 year-olds. Contiki came to Domain7 with the business goal of increasing traffic to their web Community. Their Community is focused on building connections with prospective and past travelers and awareness to potential new clientele. Their current community had a large active member-base with several hundred thousand total registrants. The problem they faced was how to get the message out to their potential market in a social and viral way.
Approach: At the time Domain7 was tasked with this challenge, the first release of Facebook Connect was coming available to the market. We reviewed this technology and saw two very powerful use cases for Contiki: simplicity of account creation to join the Community and ability for Community interactions to be broadcast to Facebook Friends (getting the word out). In order to effectively roll this solution out to this active Community, we needed to ensure that current operation was not interrupted but we had maximum exposure and uptake of the Facebook Connect linkage.
Results: The finished product is a seamless integrated Community with integration with Facebook Connect. The business has converted sign-ups to the Community at a higher ratio than prior to our work and has drawn on Facebook as the source for a reasonable portion of those new members. Our approach and roll out of this system, was broken into a multi-phase process with business focussed deliverables marking each step in the process.
